Emma just defeated Anastasia Zakharova 6-1 6-3 in a very impressive performance.
Yes Anastasia is ranked in the 80s but she came through qualifying and is a tricky player to face, especially with her honestly annoying serve. But Emma played brilliantly from start to finish, hitting so many fantastic shots. And her serve was SO much better today, Mark Petchy brings out the best in her.
Blinkova or Anisimova up next on Sunday. But for now I’m very happy with today’s match.
