Scottie Scheffler was spotted remonstrating with long-standing caddie and mentor Ted Scott during a frustrating final round at the Miami Championship. The world No. 1 had to settle for second place at President Donald Trump’s ‘Blue Monster’ course.
He was left trailing eventual winner Cameron Young by a considerable margin, with the American finishing six strokes clear of his Ryder Cup team-mate on 19-under par. It marked the third successive tournament in which Scheffler had been forced to settle for the runner-up spot.
He narrowly missed out on the RBC Heritage Classic after falling to Matt Fitzpatrick in a play-off, and was also pipped to the post by Rory McIlroy at the Masters.
The mounting frustration of three consecutive second-place finishes appeared to get the better of Scheffler in Miami, with Scott bearing the brunt, having stood alongside the World No. 1 since linking up with him in 2021.
